Tempest Photography celebrated World Book Day 2025 by encouraging families to share photos of their children dressed as their favourite characters.
One family member even shared the details of how she created an explorer costume to help her nephew become Andy from CBeebies’ Andy’s Amazing Adventures. He fully embraced his character for the day, making explorer poses with his dinosaur book and dinosaur toy.
The Importance of World Book Day
Every year, World Book Day brings children and families together as they immerse themselves in the lives of their favourite book characters. The event inspires a love of reading for children and makes books more accessible to them.
This accessibility is vital for children who don’t have books. In 2024, one-quarter of children who received free school meals and were able to “buy” a book with a World Book Day token said this book was the first they had owned.
World Book Day has found that reading for fun is the biggest indicator a child will go on to enjoy a happy, successful adult life. Reading can be more influential than their family circumstances, household income, or their parents’ educational background.
Despite this, only one in three children say they enjoy reading. Because of this all-time low, World Book Day is on a mission to show children the joy of books.
About Tempest Photography
For the last century, Tempest Photography has stood at the forefront of the UK’s photography industry. Representing a gold standard, its local photographers operate across the country, capturing young people at early years, school, and graduation milestones.
Although perhaps most known for these services, Tempest also captures cadets at military events, such as Pass Out parades and on location. The expert photographers also join guests aboard cruise ships to photograph them on their holidays.
Additionally, Tempest partners with AllYearbooks and MOXIE, which create customised yearbooks and hoodies for school teams and leavers. Thanks to these partnerships, Tempest offers more than exceptional photography. It also offers mementoes that customers treasure for years.
For schools and universities wanting to bring Tempest’s high-class photography to their marketing materials, the industry leaders also have a visual marketing agency, Jolt Media.
Sitting at the intersection of education and creativity, Jolt Media creates impactful materials for these educational organisations. Photographers, video technicians, cinematographers, and web and print designers collaborate with schools and universities to understand their values and craft visuals that set them apart.
