Tosyalı has signed an agreement with GE Vernova and Inogen to develop a groundbreaking self-consumption Solar Power Plant (SPP) project, with an eventual capacity of 1.2 GW. The first phase, involving 120 MWp, will utilise Tosyalı’s locally produced N-Type Topcon 725 Wp solar panels under the Tosyalı V-Solar brand.
Commitment to Sustainability from a Global Leader
A leader in green steel production, Tosyalı operates with an annual crude steel production capacity of 15 million tonnes. By integrating renewable energy and artificial intelligence into its operations, Tosyalı is committed to sustainable and eco-efficient production practices.
Tosyalı’s existing 235 MW rooftop solar installations, the largest of their kind globally, have set a precedent for clean energy integration in industry. Now, the company is partnering with GE Vernova and Inogen to embark on an even larger initiative: a 1.2 GW self-consumption SPP project. The first stage is set to become operational in 2025, with the entire project due for completion by 2027.
At the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of Tosyalı Holding, stated: “With this investment, Tosyalı will generate approximately 50% of its self-consumption from solar energy.”
Driving Innovation with Local and Global Collaboration
Fuat Tosyalı also highlighted the broader importance of renewable energy: “We continue to invest in advanced clean energy technologies under our vision of ‘Tosyalı for a sustainable life.’ As part of this vision, we have taken the first step toward one of the world’s largest self-consumption SPP projects with a capacity of 1,2 GW by initiating the first project in Osmaniye. We are happy to collaborate with GE Vernova, one of the world’s leading companies in this field, and Inogen, Turkey’s leading EPC contractor. We will produce our solar panels in Osmaniye. Starting with the first project, these panels will be deployed across SPP sites in eight provinces. By doing so, we aim to meet approximately 50% of our energy needs from solar energy. This will make us stronger and more independent in energy usage and further strengthen our position among the world’s leading green steel producers.”
The 1.2 GW project, one of the largest of its kind globally, will be constructed in three stages, with the first 120 MW phase already underway in Osmaniye.
