President Donald Trump said Saturday night that Iran’s nuclear sites “have been completely and totally obliterated” by U.S. military strikes.
Earlier Saturday evening, Trump posted on his Truth Social network that the U.S. “completed our very successful attack” on three Iranian nuclear facilities.
Trump then addressed the nation from the White House and said that “the strikes were a spectacular military success.” He added that that Iran “must now make peace,” and that “future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.”
Trump had said Thursday that he would take two weeks to decide whether to join Israel in military action against Iran. Israel has bombed Iranian nuclear and military targets for more than a week, and markets have been contending with geopolitical risk and the possibility of an inflationary oil supply shock since.
