As they entered 2025, legal departments were under more and more stress. They had to do more work while budgets were getting tighter and the rest of the business had higher expectations. Wordsmith AI’s revenue has grown tenfold in the past year. This is a bigger story about how legal work is changing because of this. Companies don’t just want tools that keep documents safe or do paperwork for them anymore. They want systems that will really change how the whole company gets legal help.
The platform uses the latest AI along with decades of human legal experience to help in-house legal teams write, review, and negotiate contracts faster without breaking any laws. It has already helped these teams save the time of dozens of lawyers every week and, in some cases, millions of dollars a year. More than 90% of users log in every day and do about 70 legal actions a week.
After raising $25 million in a Series A round last June and reaching a record-breaking $100 million valuation in just 18 months, this company has gained a spot on Microsoft’s Agentic Launchpad, one of only 14 businesses chosen. Wordsmith will be one of the first companies to join the initiative. It will get access to Microsoft’s newest technologies, expert advice, and sales opportunities around the world. The Agentic Launchpad helps start-ups and scale-ups change industries and lead in the age of agentic AI.
Ross McNairn, Co-Founder and CEO of Wordsmith AI, said, “Wordsmith changed a lot in 2025.” Getting 10 times more revenue while working with some of the most famous companies in the world is a strong proof of both the problem we’re solving and the way we’re solving it. We began with 8 people last year, but now we have more than 80 working in Edinburgh, London, New York, and other places because more people want our solution.
“Legal teams don’t want to slow down growth anymore; they want tools that let them keep up with the pace of business.” Our work in 2025 has set the stage for the next step in Wordsmith’s growth, which will be huge in 2026. We’re working on technology that not only helps legal teams, but also changes the way legal work is done, which makes the whole business more efficient.
Wordsmith will build on its work with the Microsoft Agentic Launchpad in 2026 to release new products, including the Repositories product, which is the first of its kind tool that lets legal teams access an organization’s knowledge bank right away, cutting down on document searches from hours to seconds and due diligence from weeks to minutes. Wordsmith’s improved products will change the way businesses do business, allowing them to close deals faster and make their operations more efficient across the board.
