I was talking with my daughter Molly recently about online security and told her one of my basic rules: I essentially never click a link in an email. If my bank, credit card company, or another account tells me I need to do something, I’ll open the app or go directly to the website and log in from there.
Molly told me she had never really thought about that before, which reminded me that some of these little security habits aren’t obvious until someone teaches them to you.
