Anthropic signed a six-year, $10 billion computing agreement with Volta Infra Holdings using Bitdeer’s Tydal data center in Norway, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Volta had identified its customer only as a leading AI laboratory when it announced the agreement. Volta CEO Ricard Boada declined to identify the client, while representatives for Anthropic and Bitdeer (NASDAQ: BTDR) declined to comment, according to Bloomberg.
The customer identification ties Anthropic to a specific physical build. Volta intends to outfit the full contracted site for the AI lab with NVIDIA Vera Rubin systems, linking the customer to a fixed power block, hardware platform and delivery schedule.

Anthropic and Volta
Anthropic’s reported six-year computing contract sits above a longer infrastructure agreement between Volta and Bitdeer. As detailed in a press release Tuesday, Bitdeer signed a 16-year lease and services agreement covering 121 critical IT MW, backed by approximately 133 gross MW.
The Bitdeer agreement carries about $4.7 billion in scheduled payments over its initial term, based on full performance.
The lease carries an average rate of about $202/kW-month in the opening term and has 3% yearly escalators. Volta’s obligations are expected to be backed by about $1.3 billion of credit support in the form of letters of credit put in place by affiliates of J.P. Morgan and another financial institution, subject to customary conditions.
Bitdeer puts the remaining capex at about $500 million, or roughly $4 million for each contracted IT MW. The operator intends to pursue more debt while keeping ownership of the Tydal campus, so Bitdeer remains on the hook for financing and delivering the physical infrastructure behind Volta’s customer commitment.
Tydal delivery creates site-level execution risk
Bitdeer expects to hand over the contracted capacity in four data halls, split into two even phases. Phase one is targeted for December 31, 2026, with phase two set for March 31, 2027.
Those dated construction milestones, along with the full-site Vera Rubin configuration and 121 MW critical IT commitment, indicate a dedicated, site-specific arrangement for Anthropic if Bloomberg’s identification is correct. The disclosures do not establish that Anthropic owns either the campus or its GPUs, nor do they specify how the capacity will be divided between training and inference.
